Kırklareli Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Dergisi

Kirklareli University Journal of Sciences is an international, open-access, and peer-reviewed journal that started its publication life in 2017. The journal aims to include qualified academic studies that are theoretically and methodically original in the field of social sciences, thus contributing to the field of social sciences. Kirklareli University Journal of Social Sciences, which continues its publication life within the framework of transparency and scientific ethical principles, aims to provide a national and international platform where scientists working in this field can share their knowledge, findings, and studies.

Kirklareli University Journal of Social Sciences is published biannually (June and December) and accepts articles in Turkish and English languages. The journal takes place in national and international indexes, accepts original and qualified academic researches in social sciences.

Writing Rules

If the original language of the submitted article is Turkish, Turkish title, Turkish abstract, keywords, English title, English abstract and keywords; If the original language of the article is English, English title, English abstract and keywords, Turkish title, Turkish abstract and keywords should be included. Exceptionally, foreign authors do not have to write Turkish abstracts and titles. Abstracts should not be more than 200 words.
The title of the manuscript should be written in 12 font size, capital, bold, Times New Roman font and centered on the page.
Under the title of the manuscript, the first letters of the author's names and surnames should be capitalized, the other letters should be small, and full name should be bold and right-aligned. Title, institution and contact information should be given as a footnote attached to the surname.
Keywords should be written under abstract. All words except the first and special names in the keywords should start with lowercase letters and separated by commas. Abbreviations should not be used in abstract writing.
Abstract should be written in 10 font size including a heading(bold), with the first letter of the heading capitalized, the other letters small and left-aligned. Title, author information, abstract, keywords, information, and acknowledgment should be placed on one page.
If the study has been presented before, if it is produced from a project, proceeding or thesis, an explanation should be added to the title as a footnote.
The “Introduction” section should start from the next page.
The copyright form must be filled by all authors when applying to the Dergipark Article Application System. This form is available on our web site and on the application system.

Submitted articles should be written before and after 6nk and single-line spaced. Articles; title, author information, abstract, keywords, title, text, tables, figures, and references, should be no more than 20 pages. The manuscript should be written in 12 font size using Times New Roman. Page structure should be 2 cm from the top, bottom, right and left and 0,5 cm binding margins should be on the left. The distance from the edge should be 1.25 cm in the footer and 1.25 cm at the top.
The title classification in the text should be made with numbers. Such as; 1, 1.1., 1.1.1 .; 2., 2.1., 2.1.1., 3., 3.1., 3.1.1. The introduction title will not be assigned a number. For all titles of the article in the text; the first letters should be in capital letters and the other letters small, all in bold, in 12 font size, in Times New Roman font and left-aligned. The conclusion also should not be included in the title classification.
The page number should be specified in the article at the bottom center.
Articles submitted for publication should not contain any paragraph indent in the text and titles. Only with the quotations in quotation marks or in the lists, 1 cm indent should be applied.
Graphs and tables should appear as much as possible on the cited page or immediately after. The references and notes under the charts and tables should aim to make these materials understandable regardless of the main text.
The table and figure title should be bold, centered and numbered (“Table 1:” or “Figure 5:”). Table and figure titles should be above the table or figure (Example: Table 1: 1990-2019 Post-Soviet Military Spending in Russian Federation). Tables and figures should be centered and the text scrolling feature should be turned off. Notes and references below the table should be written in Times New Roman font, 10 points, italic and centered. After and before the tables and figures (if there is a note or source, after the note or source), one-line space should be left.
Each appendix to the article should be given on separate pages and after the references. The letters of each of the words in the title of the Appendix should be capitalized and left-aligned only the word Appendix with a number should be bold (such as “Appendix 1: PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION RESULTS IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION”).
Authors' surnames and publication dates (and page information, if necessary) should be used when referring to references. For example:

Ozcelik (2015) ...; Ozcelik (2015, p. 150) ...; Özçelik (2015, p. 182-186) ...;

According to Özçelik (2014) ...; According to Özçelik and Tuncer (2014) ...; Özçelik and Tuncer (2014) ...; Özçelik et al., (2016) (if there are three or more authors) ...

If more than one study is referred to at the end of the sentence, these references should be given in parentheses in the order of the year. For example: (Tuncer, 2004; Tuncer and Ozcelik, 2007; Tuncer et al., 2009; Ozcelik, 2014).
If the source is quoted exactly, it should be shown in quotation marks and page information must be added while giving a reference. While giving a reference in an article written in the Turkish language “s.” and “ss.” should be used for page information. In the case of an article written in the English language “p.” and “pp.” should be used for page information.
[For Turkish authors or articles in Turkish.] The articles should be taken as examples of the spelling guide and spelling rules of the Turkish Language Association. For detailed information, please refer to the website of the Turkish Language Association: www.tdk.gov.tr. Turkish dictionaries should be used instead of foreign words. When using unusual words in Turkish, the equivalent in a foreign language can be given in parentheses.
The articles written in English and the English sections of the articles submitted in Turkish should be subjected to a proficient language check prior to submission. Regardless of the content, articles that are insufficient in terms of language are returned/rejected. It is important that authors pay maximum attention to this issue.
If the submitted articles do not meet the above-mentioned requirements, they will be sent back for necessary correction process or rejected by the editorial board without being included in the evaluation process.
The percentage of similarity score (Turnitin) should not be more than 15%.
If a footnote is used in the article and a reference was made in this part, this source should be added to the references.
The reference should be written under the title “REFERENCES” in English and “KAYNAKÇA” in Turkish immediately after the conclusion. Names of all authors should be given when writing references. The researcher should write the sources used in his / her study in alphabetical order of surnames. In the writing of each resource, all the lines except the first line are written 1 cm inside. When referring to more than one study of the same author, references are given from old to new according to the year of publication. If the author has more than one publication with the same date, the sources are separated by placing letters such as a, b next to the publication date. Articles should include the starting and ending page number(s) in the source where the article is published. If there is more than one author, the “and” should be used before the last author.

Bibliography information should be organized in the guidance of APA 6.0 as in the following examples:

Preliminary note: Only the first words of the titles should be capital, the other of all words of the title should be lower case.

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Publication Principles

Kirklareli University Journal of Social Sciences is an international refereed journal published electronically twice a year, in June and December.
Economics, business, finance, history, sociology, philosophy, archeology, art history, law, political science, international relations, public administration, social policy, labor relations, behavioral sciences, linguistics, literature, communication, fine arts, and other scientific and original articles related to social sciences can be sent to the journal.
Articles submitted to the journal should not have been published elsewhere or sent for publication.
Articles should be written in Turkish or English.
Articles should be prepared in accordance with our spelling rules and uploaded to the system in full, including bibliography, after registering in the e-journal system from the registration tab.
Too many spelling mistakes and not complying with scientific requirements will be deemed sufficient for the rejection of the article.
Articles submitted to be published in the journal are first subject to the preliminary evaluation of the editorial board and the plagiarism program. It is then evaluated in terms of content and form by at least two independent referees using the double-blinded method. The authors are not informed about the identities of the referees who evaluate the article, and the referees are not informed about who the article belongs to (Blind Review).
In line with the evaluation reports from the referees, it will be decided to publish the article, request a correction from the author, or reject the article.
The opinions in the articles published in the journal are not the opinions of the journal. All responsibility belongs to the author of the article.
The author (s) who submit an article to the journal are deemed to have accepted the ethical principles of the journal.
All rights of the articles published in the journal are reserved. It cannot be reproduced in any way without the name of the journal.
The authors of the articles published in the journal are not paid royalties in cash.
Articles that do not comply with the publication principles will not be included in the referee evaluation process.

Publication Ethics

Our journal undertakes to apply publication ethics at the highest standards and to abide by the following principles of the Publication Ethics and Abuse Statement.

This declaration has been prepared based on the recommendations and guidelines developed for journal editors by the organizations' named Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Council of Science Editors (CSE), World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), and International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).

Manuscripts submitted to the journal for publication should not have been previously published in another journal (including papers presented at scientific meetings and published in full text) or sent to any journal simultaneously for publication.

Manuscripts sent to the journal are reviewed by an Editor and at least two referees and are taken for a double-blind peer review period.

It reserves the right to review the submitted articles at any stage for plagiarism through purposeful software. For this purpose, articles that do not comply with the standards, which include unauthorized quotations or fraudulent data for plagiarism, forgery (table figures or fabrication or manipulation of research data), and investigations regarding the use of inappropriate human or animal material in the research are not published in the journal. This rule also applies if the standard and its non-conformance are detected at the post-broadcast stage and require the withdrawal of the manuscript.

Our journal reminds us of its responsibility to report plagiarism or suspicion of double publication due to publication ethics.

Ethics Committee Permission

With the update of the TR Index criteria, Ethics Committee Permission is required for the following researches to be published in our journal as of 14 July 2020:

• All kinds of research conducted with qualitative or quantitative approaches that require data collection from participants using questionnaires, interviews, focus group work, observation, experimentation, interview techniques,

• Use of humans and animals (including material/data) for experimental or other scientific purposes,

• Clinical trials on humans,

• Research on animals,

• Retrospective studies in accordance with the law on the protection of personal data.

Also;
• Stating that "informed consent form" was obtained in case presentations,

• Obtaining and indicating permission from the owners for the use of scales, questionnaires, and photographs of others,

• It should be stated that the copyright regulations are complied with for the intellectual and artistic works used.

Author Responsibilities

The author (s) must ensure the originality of the manuscripts submitted. They must declare that the manuscript has not been published anywhere, in any language, or has not been evaluated for publication. They must comply with applicable copyright agreements and laws. In our journal, copyrighted material such as tables, figures, or other contributory quotations is published only with valid permission and copyright approval and this responsibility belongs to the authors. Writers); cite other authors, contributors, or sources appropriately and cite relevant sources.

Author(s) of research papers (including short reports); participate in and declare at least 3 of the stages of "designing the study", "collecting data", "reviewing data", "writing the text" and "verifying the accuracy of data and analyzes".

The authors are obliged to explain a financial relationship or conflict of interest or competing interest areas that need to be known about the study and that may potentially affect the findings or scientific result of the study. They should clearly report all financial contributions, sponsorships, or project support to the study.

When the author detects a meaningful scientific error or inconvenience in his published manuscript, he is obliged to contact the Editor as soon as possible in order to withdraw the manuscript or correct the error.

Evaluation Process and Duration

• Articles submitted to Kırklareli University Journal of Social Sciences should not have been published anywhere before and should not have been submitted to another print/electronic medium for publication. If it is detected that the articles submitted to the Journal and/or taken to the refereeing process have been sent to another medium and have been published previously, the process is canceled.

• Articles are evaluated on the "Dergipark Article Application System (http://dergipark.gov.tr/kusbder)".

• Articles in the pre-control stage can be withdrawn from the system by the author without the editor's approval. It is not possible to withdraw the articles that pass the pre-control stage and are in the evaluation stage. During the evaluation phase, if the author requests to withdraw the article; It must provide reasonable and acceptable reasons and be able to document them.

• Articles submitted to Kırklareli University Journal of Social Sciences are subjected to preliminary examination primarily in terms of form and content. Articles deemed appropriate in form and content are submitted to the editorial board to be appointed as a referee. Whether the articles submitted to Kırklareli University Journal of Social Sciences will enter the refereeing process or not is finalized within 4 weeks.

• Referee (s) are appointed if they are found suitable for the articles reviewed anonymously by the Editorial Board. Each article is sent as an anonymous text to at least two referees in total. If one of the referees' reports is positive and the other is negative, it is sent to the third referee for reporting. If the two referee reports are negative, the article is rejected without referring to the third referee's report.

• In line with the reports from the referee (s), it is decided to publish the article, to request a correction, additional information, and abbreviation from the author (s) within the framework of the report or not to publish this decision and this decision is notified to the author (s).

• If a correction is requested for the article, the correction must be made within the period specified by the editorial office and delivered to the editorial board. Otherwise, the study will be removed from the process as an editor.

• In the application of the articles sent to Kırklareli University Journal of Social Sciences, the type of the article (research, case report, review, etc.) should be specified.

• When applying to the "Dergipark Article Application System", the contact form and copyright form are filled. These forms are available on our journal's website and application system. If the article is within the scope of Studies Requiring Ethics Committee Permission in terms of TR Index criteria, it is obligatory to upload the Ethics Committee Permission Certificate.
